With our sister company
Scott Aerospace we are able to offer a complete manufacturing solution using Lean Duplex Stainless Steel (LDSS) including design, fabrication, machining and proof load testing.
LDSS is now widely used as an alternative to types 1.4301 and 1.4404 stainless in a number of applications such as on shore and offshore oil and gas industry, architectural, water treatment, chemical processing, manufacturing and automotive.
Being lighter, stronger and with it's high yield strength LDSS is the material of choice for many of today's applications.
Scott Aerospace are the first in the UK to use this material in box section in addition to round bar and flat plate. In another first they are the leaders in using this material in Aerospace applications.
Stainless steels are mainly used in aggressive environments due to their corrosion resistance whereas in construction carbon steel has always been the material of choice as a result of it's low cost, design rules and strength classes. Stainless steels have the advantage of requiring no surface protection whilst being available with a wide range of mechanical properties. LDSS in particular having twice the mechanical strength of austenitic and ferritic stainless have great potential for use within construction.
Whatever your application,
Scott Aerospace have the experience to offer the best advice in the use of LDSS, for more information contact Scott Aerospace on
